Enhanced Art Programme
Ngee Ann Secondary School (NAS) places great emphasis on developing a rich aesthetic culture in the school. As such, the Enhanced Art Programme (EAP) was set up with the support by Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2011 to provide a platform for passionate student artists to hone their craft. In line with the school vision “An Icon of Excellence and The Pride of the Community”, the Programme seeks to develop in students greater aesthetic awareness, critical and creative thinking skills, an inquiring attitude, and art concepts and skills.
As the Centre Of Excellence (COE) in ICT East Zone, NAS leverages the innovative and effective use of information communication technology (ICT) in the EAP via social media and digital imaging tools. This allows students to deepen their thinking skills and aesthetic appreciation through the use of ICT tools they are familiar with.
The EAP makes learning more engaging through the use of effective pedagogy, in particular the Teaching for Understanding (TfU) pedagogical framework and Artful Thinking Routines in the teaching and learning of Studio Practice and the Study of Visual Arts (SOVA).

In 2011, with support from MOE in terms of funding, NAS revamped the art studio, renamed it Artscapade and updated it with a resource library, Macintosh computers and a ceramic studio to enhance students’ visual art experiences. The school also set up an Exhibition Gallery to provide students with a platform to showcase their digital works and to inspire their peers.
In 2012, the IRIS studio, a digital imaging studio, was conceptualized with and for students. The IRIS studio is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment such as Wacom tablets and photography equipment. This setup enhances our position as COE in ICT East Zone and enables our students in the EAP to harness their creativity in the area of digital media.
Our EAP students have performed consistently in national competitions, academic results and pursuits after graduation. These are some of their achievements.
