Commitment to Defence (C2D) iBook

In 2016, a pilot team, consisting of 15 secondary three Student Leaders and teachers from the Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) Committee embarked on an exploration of narratives from three Commitment to Defence (C2D) ambassadors, namely COL (Ret) Chng Teow Hua, LTC (Ret) Syed Ibrahim and CPT (Ret) Shamsudin Sadan, through an engagement session and an interview. These C2D Ambassadors have contributed significantly in some of the key events in Singapore’s journey towards independence and after. They possess a rich dearth of experience that will shed light on Singapore’s historic moments and provide valuable learning points for future generations.

These Student Leaders facilitated the interview using a series of questions carefully crafted to elicit responses pertaining to leadership skills, values and moral reasoning applied by the SAF veterans / C2D ambassadors during the significant events that they were involved in. The pilot project will serve as a stepping stone for other life experiences of SAF veterans / C2D ambassadors to be curated in the future. This is a ground-up initiative by Ngee Ann Secondary School, in collaboration with Nexus, MINDEF.
