SPARKS
SPARKS is Ngee Ann Secondary’s Science and Mathematics Talent Development Programme. It follows a broad-based curriculum where innovative and interesting teaching methods are used and classes are held in technologically-rich rooms. Emphasis is given towards higher level cognitive and learning skills, such as critical thinking, independent learning, problem-solving, formal writing, and research and development.
Structure of the programme
The SPARKS Programme is a three-year programme.
It comprises Scientific Critical Thinking, Drones and Science Research. Trainings for various competitions, including the Olympiads will also be offered to students. Students will embark on a SPARKS trip to Australia in Year 3 with our partner school.
Eligibility Criteria for SPARKS
SPARKS (MA & SCI) | At least AL 2 in MA & SCI |

** students who did not score at least an AL 2 in MA
Generally, students who are among the top quartile of the Express cohort by the PSLE subject ranked lists for Mathematics and Science will be eligible for the SPARKS programme.
SPARKS students may continue to be eligible for the Sec 2 SPARKS programme based on their math and science results, attendance and degree of participation during the Sec 1 SPARKS programmes. New students may also enrol at the end of Sec 1 for the Sec 2 SPARKS programme, in part or whole, based on their results and/or teachers’ recommendations of their aptitude and passion.
